What the SNOW?!!

Today has been an odd day. For the past 4 years we have lived in Texas we have never experienced snow here. Ice, yes but not snow. Well today is that experience! It has been snowing on and off all day long. It's crazy and it's sticking which is the craziest part! These kinds of days I just want to be in my lounge clothes and snuggle up to a good movie with a cup of hot chocolate in my hand.

Cupboard Crazy

As of 2 days ago Drake has figured out how to open all of the cupboards in our house, so now that is his new favorite thing to do! And why not there is so many new things to find that he didn't know about! Talk about driving me nuts! You might be saying "Why don't you just baby proof then", I hate those things! I don't like any of them, nor do I want to drill into my cupboards for such a short phase and the one's that go on the outside are hideous. So I am dealing. I remember with Maddie I had every kitchen chair in front of my cupboards for a time, looks like I am going to have to bust those out again. I just have to laugh because when I find him going through a new cupboard he gives me this huge smile and is all giddy at what he found. Oh the simple joys of a child.

Not Just for Cooking

Poor Drake has been down with a slight case of RSV and I was worried it was getting to his ears. Our Pediatrician said that he couldn't have any more ear infections or else we would have to look into getting tubes in his ears. So I have been pretty cautious of his ears. My friend is an audiologist, so I took him over to her to see if he had an ear infection. They weren't infected YET but definitely red and irritated. So then the next day he looked like this picture all day...pulling at his ears. Great. Sooo I decided to try a home remedy my Mom had told me about.

On Dr. Oz he said putting a garlic clove on the ear during the night can cure ear infections and a lady on there testified that it really works. So why not, I peeled a garlic clove and band aided it to Drake's ear. Sounds a little cooky, Jordan me reminded me of this all night long. He thought I was nuts. I wasn't so sure myself but why not try, it couldn't hurt.

Drake kept messing with it but finally fell asleep for a while but when I went in to check on him around 1am I found the clove in his bed. So it was on his ear for a good 5 hours. Anyways the next day was Friday and he was still coughing alot so I decided to take him in just in case he didn't need any medicine before the weekend came. So the doc came in and checked his ears and what do you know the ear that I put garlic on was totally clear!! The other one was still irritated. A big smile came to my face! I know it did something because just 2 days earlier my friend said that it was irritated. So I am totally a believer now! Thanks to my Mom and Dr. Oz I now know garlic is not just for cooking! Drake is slowly but surely getting better and has not bothered his ears since.

Mama's Valentine

Happy Valentine's day!

San Antonio with the Guerisoli's!

After trying for about a year and a half to get together we finally met up with the Guerisoli's! I had a regional primary meeting to go to down to in San Antonio on a Friday night and thought it would be a perfect opportunity to spend some time with Brent, Bethany and Brooke. They were nice enough to let us stay with them overnight and we had a great time with them. It's like we picked up where we left off in Utah! We had a night full of fun playing a little Catch Phrase and of course the infamous Nertz game. We have missed playing that with all of our College 4th ward buddies! So much fun. The next day we headed out for a little sight seeing on the Riverwalk and the Alamo. I had never been to either so they were fun to see. We had a great time with them and their sweet little Brooke. She is the cutest thing and Drake had a blast playing with her. Thanks Guerisoli's and can't wait to see you up here in Austin!

The Big 2-9!

This post is a little late... (you know it's late when he asks where his birthday post is! whoops)BUT Jordan turned 29 on the 29th! He got to take the day off so it was a pretty relaxing birthday. We started off the morning with opening presents, then grabbed some lunch at Plucker's (his choice all the way) and then hung out until we headed to dinner at P.F.Changs.

For the past 4 years we have gone to P.F. Chang's on the 29th of January! Every year now our friends know to plan on going there to dinner with us on Jordan's birthday. Here is half the crew that could make it (Dom, Nina, Derek, Wendy, and Ryan).

After dinner we headed back to our house for some cake and ice cream and met up with the rest of the bunch. This cake was really fun to make and quite simple too!

As the night got later... everyone got crazier and crazier, I should say the boy's did! There is not a dull moment with this crowd! Dom got it rolling with this face! Honestly, all we wanted was one good picture of all of the guys but it took a long time to get it!

We went from a line of the guys posing, to all jumping, to this pyramid. If it wasn't someone making a funny face to ruin the picture it was another!

But we finally got a good one!

Maybe Next Time...

A couple weeks ago it was beautiful outside, like 75 degrees, so I took Drake outside in our backyard on a blanket to catch some rays and introduce him to our ugly dormant grass. Right away he crawled to the edge of the blanket and touched the grass. Intrigued, yes but not enough to go off the blanket...

Of course he has to be on me somehow, so in this picture he is draped over my legs leaning to touch the grass... leaning further and further until...

He fell over my legs onto the grass before I could catch him. To describe his reaction to face planting it into the grass and then realizing he was totally on the grass...I would have to equal it to a cat stepping into water. I was laughing so hard it was so cute...

But he didn't think so. Maybe next time we will have a better experience! Back inside we went.

Whole Foods Cookin'

For our anniversary I reserved a date night cooking class together at Whole Foods downtown. The menu was a New England dinner and it was delicious. To start off with we made clam chowder (never been a fan but Jord liked it!), then we made a sweet maple chicken, with mashed potatoes full of cream and buttermilk...yum, and asparagus. It took us the full 3 hours just to do all of this and then they topped us off with a gingerbread/spice cake with cooked pears. Jordan made it a lot of fun by getting into it and helping the whole time, we had a lot of fun together. It was a great date night!
