If Pictures Could be Edible

I could eat Drake up in these fantastic pictures Kam took. She did such an awesome job and he looks SOO HANDSOME!!! (Ok I am a bias Mom :)

Fun with Fondant

For our Relief Society Birthday celebration I signed up to bring a birthday cake and decided I would try to do it in fondant since I have always wanted to try it. It was time consuming but so much fun! I definately learned a couple of things along the way but can't wait to do another cake!

By the way... Do you have a good fondant recipe you like to use?

Cowboy Up

Our Pediatrician's office is called Lonestar Pediatrics and on one year checkups they always give out cowboy hats, take a picture and post them all around their office. So cute. Drake did great posing while the nurse was in the room but the minute I wanted more pics he didn't want anything to do with that hat! The stats are in... 22.5 lbs (50%) and 30.4 in. long (75%). Each time I have had a check up with Drake I always go back to Maddie's baby book and compare stats. They have been pretty much exactly the same at every age, within ounces. Cool, huh? Drake lights up my life everyday. I almost feel guilty about not wanting to be pregnant at the time of the accident with Maddie. I felt I wouldn't have enough time to grieve and be able to "move on" before this new baby came. I am eating my words and thoughts now because I couldn't think of a better way to give me true happiness 6 months later. Heavenly Father definitely knows me better than I know myself because I don't know when I would have gotten pregnant after Maddie passed away, and that I am grateful. Drake is in full force of learning mode. He is catching on to things everyday. These are just some things that make me love this little boy so much:
  • He is cruising, taking up to 12 steps on his own, and has just learned how to stand up on his own! Yay!
  • I love that he would rather be in my lap on the couch playing with the remote than on the floor with toys.
  • I love it when I say "lay down" with his blanket on my shoulder that he will lay his head down and tuck his arms down to his sides.
  • I love his little giddy laugh when I give Him a bite of my food (every time!)
  • I love it when he smacks his lips in anticipation of food. (Can you tell he is a great eater!?)
  • He claps when we clap or when we say "Yay" or even when he hears the sound of clapping.
  • He opens and closes his hand towards himself when he is saying "Hi".
  • He always has a pen in his left hand, or rattle, or spoon. It's almost a comfort thing I think, I laugh every time.
  • He knows where his nose is as of yesterday!
  • He gives kisses which is my favorite and also Jordan's. Jordan has been waiting for that to happen for a long time.
  • He loves his baths. When he hears the water running he crawls in a sprinting fashion to the bathroom.
  • He dances to the sound of any music or me playing the piano. He sways his little hips or bounces up and down. So cute.
  • He anticipates in getting into trouble by looking at us and slowly does what he isn't supposed to do. Then when we say no, no he shakes his pointer finger up and down at us. Apparently we do that! We just have to laugh.
  • He has this hammy smile where he tilts back his head and does a big cheesy grin showing off his oh so spread apart, big front teeth coming in. I love it.

Like I said before he lights up my life everyday. I love my big one year old.

Happy Birthday!!

On March 2nd our little guy turned 1 years old!!! When you are living in the moment time seems to go by slowly but really where did the time go? We had a great day celebrating Drake and my Mom since they were born on the same day! Jordan and I started off the morning, thinking he would wake up, by singing to him in bed "Happy Birthday" but surprisingly he slept through the whole thing! Grandma made him his birthday breakfast and then we were off to do a little shopping.

Before we left I turned his carseat around! The whole time we were out doing errands he kept his Birthday Crown on! It was so cute.

Here are the Birthday twins getting ready for the party!

Let the party begin! We had a little birthday party for Drake with a couple of our friends to celebrate!

All the kiddos with the Birthday Boy coloring #1's!

Present time! Poor Drake didn't get an afternoon nap so he was exhausted!

Cake time!

It was the first taste of sugar for Drake and boy did he love it! He started slow but once he got a taste of the frosting he had handfulls to the point that I had to take it away so he didn't get a stomach ache!

We loved having my Mom and Grandma here to celebrate both of their birthdays! We love Drake so much, he fills our home with unlimited happiness. Happy Birthday Mom and Drake!!

Grandpa, Grandma & G.G.!

We love having visitors and time sure flies when you are having fun. My Mom, Dad, and Grandma B. came in town to visit last week and we loved having them here. It was a short stay for Dad but was glad he came. They came in town to help us with our patio and for Drake and Mom's birthday. Drake loved having more people to play with! We definately stayed busy and so enjoyed their company!!

What A Project

For a while now we have been going back and forth on wanting to build a patio out back, figuring out finances, what kind of material we wanted to use, when we could do it....BUT we finally made the decision to do it. The plan was to have my Dad help us pour a patio while visiting for Drake's 1st Birthday. So Jordan and I had to be prepared and have the foundation ready for my Dad to frame it and pour the concrete. Let me tell you, I know more about bids, the equipment, wood...I know more about this process than I want to but I was glad to help. After about 75 trips with the wheel barrel full of dirt and hours and hours of time spent raking it smooth, we were ready. Our bodies hurt really bad! Dad came in at 12:30AM on Saturday morning and was up by 5:30am to get out there and start working to be ready for a 11am pour. What a project! With the help of all of our friends, 2 missionaries and our neighbor Mike we got it done and I love it. It's not completely finished, we want to build a roof on it, but it looks awesome and I am so excited to have it! A big thankyou to all of our friends, Jordan, my Dad, Missionaries and Mike for a job WELL done!!

Beginning stages
