The Big Boy Room is Complete

Drake's new room was such a fun makeover and I love how it turned out. I already posted on painting the wall so next on our list was a bed so I could map out everything else due to the size of the room. My plan was to build a bed but I was too impatient so good 'ol Ikea came in handy and we came home with this one instead!

Drake loves helping any chance he can get!

The big reveal!!
I found the bedding online (what a pain to find the exact matching blue that is on the wall), the lamp is from Ikea, the side table I found on clearance at Burlington and gave it a new coat of paint...

Then on this wall I found the cutest idea online to make old books into shelves. So I went to Goodwill and picked up a few in the colors that matched and Jordan did a great job putting them up, right below them I found a place that does chalkboard vinyl, and next to that are actually Ikea spice racks that I painted and put together for little book shelves.

Alphabet from Hobby Lobby and I painted the "D" for Drake.
Other than that, the rest of the decor we just moved from his old room!

Drake loves his new room and it's so fun being able to lay in bed with him. When we got back in town last week, Jordan insisted that he slept in there. I on the other hand was a little more hesitant because I didn't want to have the struggle with bedtime YET! But Drake did great the first 3 nights, then he came out a couple of times the next couple of nights and now he is waking up at 7:15am (today at 6:30am!!), when he usually sleeps until 8 or 8:30, and he is fighting us now to go to bed, soooo we are dealing I guess you could say! But he is excited that he sleeps in his big boy bed and now says that the crib is for Lydia. Too cute. Now it's on to the nursery!

My Best Friend

This picture is pretty much how I look every night, not the cute body but the little smile on her face while sleeping. This pillow is my best friend right now, best purchase/gift my parents could have given me with my first pregnancy. I don't do well without sleep, I need my sleep, and this definitely helps. Yes, I take up more than half of our king bed with it but Jordan loves me alot and it is the most comfortable pillow while being pregnant! Speaking of pregnancy, I know I haven't posted much on this baby that is about to arrive in October! It's probably due to the fact that this pregnancy has been awesome, I haven't once been sick and between Drake and projects around the house I have kept so busy. Time has flown by which I am thankful for. Don't get me wrong I don't love being pregnant by any means, I still have all of the discomfort and sciatic nerve pain but I can't complain. To say that I am excited for this little girl to get here would be an understatement. We are starting to work on the nursery and when that is done I look forward to pulling down all of Maddie's old stuff from the attic to fill the dresser and closet. A couple of people asked my feelings on doing this and I am sooo excited and ready to do it. I know there will be floods of memories that will come back of Maddie in the clothes and blankets but I am excited to put this baby in them too. Bring on the pink!! We have decided on naming her Lydia Lynn. I love the daintiness of it. We are excited to see Drake with her and have 2 children in our home finally. I know it's going to be an adventure but we are ready!!!

Quite the Photographer

Our Little Fish

To describe our summer I would say has been BUSY spent visiting family and friends, going to the pool ALOT, working on Drake's big boy room (post coming soon!) and the nursery, and trying to stay cool out of this Texas heat. I have never been pregnant in the summer and this has been a brutal one to say the least!! I think we are going on 50+ days of being over 100 degrees, plus humidity with out any rain which results to be a big sweaty mess, water regulations and everything dying!! So Drake and I have tried hard to stay busy having fun.

Drake has been a little fish! This summer has been so fun taking him to the pool because he just goes off once his floaties are on and jumps in and doesn't stop! He probably jumps in about 20 times every time we go to the pool, it's his favorite thing!

I have to document that Drake's speech has taken off the last month and a half! He speaks!! Not that he didn't before, he would talk all day long, but now we can understand what he is saying. Every week he is picking up new words and putting them together. He will say "Mommy, where are you!" or "Hold you" wanting us to hold him, I love it! He is talking even more than that, those are my favorites. We have also branched our media selection going from just Elmo to now liking Jungle Book and Sword in the Stone. Yay! I was getting a little crazy in the head with Elmo! Drake is just a little sponge right now and learning so much which is so fun to watch. He sings his ABC's, I am a Child of God (I love it!), Twinkle twinkle Little Star, Row Row Row Your Boat, Popcorn Popping, Ei-Ei- Oh (aka Old MacDonald), Wheels on the Bus, Monkey/Alligator song...all with hand motions. He counts to 15 and loves to read books. He is at such a fun age and I have to add that he travels so well, thank goodness for the iPad!! Now if we can just get him potty trained before this little girl gets here!!
