Get The Ball Rolling

We had a BALL last Saturday at Drake's ball themed party!  This year my motto was low key, well as low key as I could refrain myself to! We invited 6 of his buddies over for some ball fun.  Luckily it was a beautiful day and we let the 2 and 3 year olds loose! We had melon balls, grapes, whoppers, cheese puff balls, and pigs in a blanket on the menu.
Drake's only requests were a piñata and a blue cake, easy enough! So we got a ball piñata, Drake filled it with candy and then loved whacking at it.  Unfortuanately with 2 and 3 year olds they don't swing very hard so we had Jordan break it open!
And onto the blue cake!  In the previous months Drake would bring up his birthday and he would say "And we will sing Happy Birthday", then he would procede to sing "Happy Birthday dear Drakey, Happy birthday to you".  And that's exactly what we did!
And last but not least presents!
These were the cutest little hoppers I found for party favors!
I loved the simplicity of the party.  It might have been a little boring for the adults but the kids had a lot of fun with all of the balls!  Drake is still talking about his party, he names everyone that came and tells me about the pinyata and his cake and presents, cute boy.  Drake is growing up so much, I love that kid more than anything!  Here's to being 3!

Happy Birthday To You

On March 2nd it was my Mom's birthday and Drake's 3rd birthday!! It has been so fun the past 3 years having my Mom in town for their birthdays to celebrate.  I can't believe Drake is 3!  We have been talking about his birthday for forever it seems like, a day he has been looking forward to for a long time!  We started the day out with balloons hanging on both of their doors to wake up to.
Then we headed to the mall for a birthday lunch at Drake's favorite, Chick-fil-A and did a little birthday shopping for my Mom.
From there we headed to Zilker park to ride the train.  It was such a beautiful day!

We went to go feed the horses that live right by our house but unfortunately they weren't there on their birthday but I had to post pics of the day before with Drake on them!  Drake was in heaven when my Dad put him on them.  Good thing they were tame!

That night we celebrated their birthday dinners at Chuy's!  As always so delicious but the best part was them coming around the corner with these ice creams and yelling that it was their birthdays and singing them Happy Birthday.  So unexpected and hilarious!
After dinner we headed home to open presents!
We loved having my parents here to celebrate and it was such a great day.  Drake was so excited that it was his birthday and Grandma's birthday and is so happy to say that he is 3 now!

Blue & Gold

When I was primary president a couple years ago, it involved being over the Cub Scout program, but when I say "over" I mean I delegated everything "scouts" to my 2nd Counselor and just attended the pack meetings.  Not that I was a slacker or anything, my counselors just did a great job.  Well, to say the least, not being more involved is back firing on me now!  A couple months ago I was released from Young Women's and I am now the Cub committee chairman, aka the overseer of cub scouts.  To say the least I am learning, and already have learned so much.  I guess this is all preparing me for when Drake goes to scouts, right?!
So I jumped right in and wouldn't you know it but the birthday of scouts is in February which is why you have the Blue and Gold dinner.  So we started planning and came up with a Circus theme and it turned out awesome.  We had such a fun time, so much work (especially since we don't have a committee yet) so again, so much work but it all turned out perfect.
Here are the invites I made on my Silhouette.
Macaroni Grill donated their butcher paper so the kids could draw on the tables and Texas Roadhouse donated peanuts that were on all of the tables.
Our Cub master got the crowd going with some cheers
We had the boys bring a decorated circus themed cake that we judged, and all of the cakes were awesome!
We had some circus entertainment,
and trivia questions to see which table got to eat first.
When dinner was devoured it was time for the carnival games!
A guessing jar...
Walk the tightrope while bouncing a balloon and another game was to hit the balloons with a nerf gun...
Feed the elephants with peanuts...
and we had the amazing Renae Kingsley doing face painting...
And a photo booth stocked with props!
Such a fun night, glad it's over but it was great seeing everyone having a great time.  BIG thanks to Wendy Parker for helping me!!! and now onto the Pine wood Derby!

Love

There are so many "loves" in my life.  Some people don't like celebrating Valentine's Day and yes I guess you could say it is just a big money pit but I love it.  Really, I like any reason to decorate, celebrate and make any ordinary day special.  My family is my number one love in my life, especially these two little ones.

I love my husband, plain and simple.  He is my love.
This was after church on the Sunday before Valentine's day.
We LOVE getting packages in the mail!  Mimi and Papa sent some love with cards to Drake and Lydia and Grandma and Pop Pop sent some love to us with a valentines day package!
This year we attended the library Valentines party, they do such a great job.  We go almost every week for toddler time and Drake is loving it more and more.  The party was the night before Valentines day so Drake was so excited to show Daddy all around the library.
If you look closely Drake is not paying attention to the story, he is bullying a boy that is twice his size.  Oh Drake.
We brought 24 valentines to share with friends and in return came home with a bag full of valentines and candy!
As tradition we decorated heart cookies with friends.  It was a small group this year but so much fun none the less!
Drake got so into it, he loved it, as you can see!  Frosting and cookies and sprinkles all by himself...pure joy!
On Valentines day evening Jordan planned a fantastic date to go to the iPic theaters at the Domain to see the Vow, he knows me to well.  If you have these theaters around you, GO!  A little pricey but so much fun.  It is pretty much a swanky theater with plush seats that recline and you get to eat dinner while you are watching the movie.  Oh and the seats are in two's so you feel like its just you and your date in the theater.  I loved it and now want to see every movie there!  It was a perfect way to end the day of Love.
