I can't believe the day has finally come! Tomorrow I have a scheduled c-section at 7:30 in the morning and I can't be more excited. Ok maybe not for the surgery part but I can't wait to meet this little girl that is all up in my ribs and already giving me sleepless nights! Lydia Lynn we can't wait to meet you! Like I have said before this has been a great pregnancy, besides being hot 24/7, I have felt great the whole time. I am so excited to have another girl, I can't even explain! It has been so fun preparing and pulling out all of Maddie's old clothes and blankets. I am just so curious to what she will look like. Will she pull all of the dark features like Maddie or be light complexed with blue eyes and blonde, curly hair like Drake? All I know is that I can't wait to have her in my arms.
A lot of prep has taken place for the arrival of this little one. First it was moving Drake into his new room and the fun makeover that took place with that and then it was onto the nursery. To say I bit off a little more than I could chew would be correct but would I change that?....probably not! because I absolutely LOVE how her room turned out. So let's get to the details!!
So if you remember, this is how the nursery used to look like when it was Drake. I loved it the whole 2 1/2 years he was in it.

Now onto the PROJECT. I knew I wanted to do another accent wall, like Drake's and my initial thinking was to buy this neat Moroccan wall stencil and have that be the accent. But it was $50 and I was unsure if it would actually turn out since I have textured walls and didn't want to be out the money if it didn't work. So I did a little more research and found this cool way of doing "painted wallpaper". All you had to do was print out the decal and trace it on the wall and then paint over your tracing. It looked awesome in the pictures and it was free, even better right? So I began tracing...and tracing... and with 10 ft. ceilings it took me days. To make a long story short it took a loooong time, tracing was actually the easy part. Then it was time to start going over my pencil marks with a 1/4 in. paint brush....double coated. I got 3/4 of the wall done and then when my fam came for my birthday my sweet sister finished the rest for me. My legs had had it. She was a life saver and finished the job. It does look awesome and I LOVE it but it took a long time!
So here is Brittney (and Drake) finishing the wall for me.
My family was such a great help when they were here. My Dad was the handy man, of course, and hung everything we needed him to.
And my Mom made the valance, the bedding, the pillow and the blanket that you see on the chair. I love every piece.
And here is the final result...
We found the dresser on craigs list. I sanded it, primed, painted and then added hardware. The clock is from my kitchen. I found the cute "You are my sunshine" print off of etsy and just nailed in silk flowers into the wall.
Here is a good view of the wall. Again, hand painted..and painted....and painted!
Her newborn pics will obviously go in the frames.
I painted the rod iron and made the bow board.
Here is the beautiful bedding my Mom made. The fabric is actually a duvet cover I found at Bed Bath and Beyond that she took apart to make the bedding with. I made the crib sheet with fabric I bought online. Seriously sooo easy. I can't say that for the bumpers but the crib sheet was so fun to make.
I made this little art piece. Can you guess what the flowers are made of? Toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls that I collected. Again a great, cheap idea I found online. I just spray painted them and hot glued them to the white canvas I bought at Hobby Lobby.
This name frame was another idea I found online. I painted a backless frame and cut out letters out of all the fabrics I used in the room, backed them with interfacing and ironed them on.
So many fun projects that kept me busy this whole pregnancy and a lot of help from my family. I love how it all turned out and can't wait to have Lydia in there! I love going into the room, a smile just comes across my face every time.
Tomorrow is the day. Nerves haven't gotten to me yet but I am sure it will be a sleepless night! I am also excited to introduce Drake to Lydia and have that special moment with him. It's been a long 9 months but tomorrow it will all be worth it. Pictures will be up as soon as we can!
