December 28, 2009 marked our 5th anniversary of marriage! Wow, it's still hard to believe. We were married in the Las Vegas temple and happened to be in Las Vegas on our anniversary which was pretty cool. Jordan and I decided to do a little get away to celebrate so we went up to Mt. Charleston outside of Vegas and stayed at the resort for a couple of days and went skiing/snowboarding. Many of you might be thinking, that sounds so fun.. what a great idea... yes, parts of it were great and we made some fond memories BUT some of it was not! Let me just paint a little picture for you all. So we get to the resort the first evening after getting lost for about a half hour, no biggie, we walk in and there is trash everywhere in the foyer. I mean hot chocolate cups on all of the little tables and trash on the ground, not a good welcoming. Whatever. So we check in and we are on the 3rd floor which was totally great IF they had a elevator! Poor Jordan lugged our luggage up the 3 floors and we get to our "suite". It was nice, 2 rooms, fireplace, balconies, DVD player... it was nice. So we go to dinner that night at the little restaurant within the resort. After waiting for about 10-15 mins to order, finally the bus boy took our order because we asked where our waiter was and then they were out of what I wanted to order. We were just going, "This is Crazy!" So bottom line the resort wasn't anything great, but still fun that we were away and we were together so it made for some great memories I guess.
So the next day the plan was for me to go skiing and Jordan was going to snowboard. It was like the busiest day ever! We stayed in line for about an hour to get our rental equipment, finally get ready to go and we decide to go up 1 of the 2 lifts that were there. Pause...Now, neither one of us has done this in about 4 years...little rusty. Jordan was totally fine, he wake boards yaddi yadda. So we get out on the snow and I have to admit Jordan says, "Let's go down the bunny hill a couple of times first." And I say with a little pride in my heart, "No, No let's just go up the lift." Absolutely the wrong thing to do. We get to the top of the hill, ready to get off the lift and what do I do... biff it and try to hurry and get up with embarrassment on my face before the next lift drops off people. When I do get up I discover I bent one of my poles in half because of my fall! Mind you that this is our first time of the day! Jordan tries to bend it back and it snaps in half. I refuse to go down the mountain without one of my poles, especially the first time down, so I take a little seat in the snow and wait for Jordan to come back up with my pole. Got the pole and start down. Pause (again), this ski resort isn't the greatest. We are right outside of Vegas, so the snow is probably half fake half real, and is totally icy. They only have 2 lifts in the whole place so to my discovery there was no intermediate, it was freakin' black diamond in parts! So we start down the mountain and I know this is not going to be good. Some parts were great, doing fine, and then we get to basically a drop off. Jordan calls it instruction, I call it criticizing. I did not want to hear any of what Jordan was telling me to do. Call me stubborn, prideful, ect. probably all true, but I still did not want to hear it! I was fearing for my life at this point, about 2 seconds away from taking off the ski's and walking down the mountain, my knees were literally shaking in fear and I was on the verge of tears. I would start going a million miles per hour so I would try to stop, get my legs in a web with the ski's and did this over and over about 5 times until I was so fuming I just started going down sideways scooting my left leg down a little bit then my right until I was finally down the stupid mountain all the while Jordan watching me in disapproval, a little ticked as well because I wouldn't listen to him. Needless to say I stayed on the bunny hill the rest of the time, which by the way is a joke, and then after lunch stayed in the lodge while Jordan had a grand time snowboarding. I have been skiing up at Brianhead and in Sundance as a beginner and have NEVER had this problem!!! There is no in between slopes for beginners at this resort! So I recommend if you are a beginner do not go to Mt. Charleston! Wow that was a long story with alot of ranting but I had to write it down for journeling sakes! Hope you got a little humor out of my misery! Other than all of that, we had a great time, I just don't think we will be doing that ever again. It just sustained my hatred for snow once again! Take me to a beach, I am always in good spirits there!
This was outside of our room on the balcony.
On the bunny hill lift. See I'm still smiling at least!

After a long day. See that huge mountain behind me, yep that's the one I cursed my way down!
And last but so not least, after 5 years of asking, Jordan spoiled me by getting my other band to my ring. No joke, I have been asking for this thing since the first holiday after our wedding and Jordan always told me, "On our 5th anniversary, you have to wait until then." He did stick to his word and I absolutely love it.
I would say Jordan and I have been through alot these past 5 years, and I wouldn't have wanted to go through any of it without him. Jordan has been a wonderful, ideal husband to me. To KNOW that he loves me is something I could never trade for anything. Happy Anniversary Babe.
