Last Saturday night my friend Nina came over to hang out while all the guys were watching football at her house. Around 12:30am we both decided to call it a night and I walked Nina to the door. As we were walking I saw police lights go by twice and I immediately thought "Great, that is all I want to see late at night in my neighborhood" automatically thinking they were looking for some fugitive or something. So we go into my office and look out the windows to see what was going on. We see two cop cars with their lights on, no sirens just lights, in parked in the middle of the road and see a policeman in the front yard a couple of houses down with his flashlight on. We were like, "What is going on?" Not a minute later we couldn't believe our eyes. A herd, not just one or two, but seriously a herd of COWS come running out from behind the side of the house and start trotting down the street. (Do cows trot? I don't know but they were not walking.) Anyways, we ran outside and watched them go down the street. I stayed up by my door but Nina walked down to the sidewalk. We were expressing our "Oh my gosh's" and "This is craziness" when all of a sudden I hear hooves against the pavement, which sounds like high heels and I see this huge cow with horns looking at us, still trotting and I yell at Nina while I am running, no sprinting, in my house "Nina there is another one!" She darts up my steep driveway, in her heels, and we slam the door closed. I swear that cow was going to attack us! Let me quote Nina when we got into the house, "Oh my gosh, I feel like I just got into a car accident my heart is pounding so fast!" After a couple of minutes of watching out my window the cops herding these cows across the field by my house, we went back outside since I saw my neighbor out there. After talking to him for a little bit it was just Nina and I again and we heard the "high heels on concrete" sound again. We started to book it into my house again but this time there was another cow but it was already across the street. Still, random cows in my neighborhood? I don't live in a rural part of Texas people! We are in a community! Bizarre, we couldn't believe our eyes. We gave it ten more minutes before Nina walked down to her car a little startled, but it was a great ending to a fun night! Thursday, October 7, 2010
